Case Study: Charlie & Corinna’s Dream Bathrooms in Co. Tyrone

Case Study: Charlie & Corinna’s Dream Bathrooms in Co. Tyrone

After three years of planning their self-build, Charlie and Corinna from Co. Tyrone finally reached the exciting stage of designing their bathrooms. With a blank canvas and a love for modern bathroom design, Corinna couldn’t wait to get started.

"I love bathrooms and all the different styles, so I was very excited to get started on designing them," she told us. The result? Four unique spaces -each with its own personality, all tied together with a modern, luxurious look.

The Vision: Modern, Spa-Like, and Practical

From the start, Charlie and Corinna knew they wanted:

  • A modern style throughout - using creams, whites, and black accents for sophistication.
  • Luxurious touches - spa-like finishes in the ensuite, a standout vanity in the main bathroom.
  • Smart use of space - especially in the downstairs toilet.
  • Consistency across the home - with tiles and flooring from Bathshack used in every room.

"On the whole I went for a modern style! For the main bathroom I wanted it to feel really luxurious and modern, which is why I kept the colours cream, white and black. The ensuite I wanted to have a spa feel - luxurious and relaxing! The downstairs toilet was a minimalist style; we tried to keep it bright because of the small space."

The Downstairs Toilet

Small but perfectly formed, the downstairs toilet was a challenge due to limited space. Their solution? The Grace wall-hung sink.

  • Why it works: Wall-hung sinks free up floor space, making even compact cloakrooms feel more open.
  • Design impact: The Grace sink is not just practical - it’s a feature in itself. With its crisp, minimal lines, it brings a clean and contemporary look to the smallest room in the house.

"I absolutely love it as it is a design feature in itself. It gives a crisp and minimal look."

This room also features the Bella Round Mirror, the Clunia Natural Tiles and Osaka Teka Wood effect tiles.

The Ensuite

This ensuite was designed as a private spa retreat, calming, relaxing, and indulgent.

Space was also limited for the ensuite room, but with the help of showroom staff, they were able to help and advise Charlie and Corrina on the products that would achieve the look they were after and utilise the space in the best way.

  • Shower enclosure: A full walk-in enclosure fitted with a shower door with brushed brass fittings.
  • Why brass?: Brushed brass brings warmth and elegance while coordinating perfectly with the matching taps and shower fittings.
  • Overall vibe: Bright, airy, and sophisticated, the perfect sanctuary after a long day.

"For the ensuite we wanted to have a full shower enclosure. We were able to get a shower door with brushed brass fittings to match our shower and tap”.

The Guest Bathroom

Designing a guest bathroom is all about finding that sweet spot between style and comfort. It’s your chance to make visitors feel instantly welcome while showing off a bit of your own personality. With soft lighting, a few thoughtful touches, and a colour palette that ties everything together, even a small space can feel warm and inviting.

For Corrina's guest bathroom the modern theme continues while keeping the design welcoming and bright. The feature wall with the Tempo Mix Hexagon Tiles accentuates the vanity unit and complements the overall colour scheme of the room.

The Main Family Bathroom

This is the bathroom that really steals the show. Charlie and Corinna knew they wanted a space that felt luxurious yet practical and Bathshack helped bring that to life.

  • Feature vanity: A custom Josef Martin fluted vanity unit with plenty of storage. It’s the star of the room, blending practicality with show-stopping design.
  • Matte black fittings: From the Eliseo Ricci black taps to shower details, the black accents create striking contrast against cream and white tiles, making the space feel both modern and high-end.
  • Finishing touches: Thoughtful details throughout ensure the room feels cohesive and stylish.

"My favourite part of the main bathroom is the custom Josef Martin fluted vanity unit. We wanted something that would be the feature of the room but also practical with plenty of storage space! I also love the black matte fittings - it creates a modern and luxurious feel."

We can’t forget about the Viktor Benson Taha 1800 Freestanding Bath. The room was all tied together by the Onyx Sable 60 x 120cm Polished Rectified tile, which made a huge impact on the overall look of the room. We always suggest starting your bathroom design with the tiles, as many people underestimate how much they can influence the overall look and feel of the space.

Beyond the bathroom

Charlie and Corinna also picked all their tiles and flooring for the rest of the home with bathshack. They went for the Loire Maple Chevron 60 x 120 for the kitchen and throughout the bedrooms.

And not forgetting the Artic circle tile for their laundry room.

Bathshack Experience

Charlie and Corinna credits Aideen from Bathshack for bringing her design ideas to life.

"Bathshack were amazing! Aideen helped us design our bathrooms, I showed her ideas and she brought them all to life! She is very creative and nothing was ever a bother. Bathshack was very accommodating and brilliant to work with!!"

From selecting the right vanity to matching taps and fittings, Bathshack provided expert advice, excellent value, and the reassurance of quality products that fit their vision perfectly.

The Favourite Feature?

With four bathrooms transformed, it’s hard for Corinna to pick just one highlight.

"I couldn't choose, I love everything about it! But I particularly love the Viktor Benson bath!"

Would They Recommend Bathshack?

A resounding yes.

"100% Bathshack were brilliant to work with, excellent value, and helped create our custom bathrooms to the style we wanted!"

Inspiration for Your Own Project

Charlie and Corinna’s project shows how you can create cohesive style across multiple bathrooms, even when each one has a different purpose:

  • Use wall-hung fittings in smaller spaces to keep things minimal and open.
  • Add a statement piece - like a fluted vanity or feature tile -to anchor a larger bathroom.
  • Don’t be afraid of black or brass fittings, they add a luxurious, modern edge.
  • Work with Bathshack’s design experts to turn your ideas into reality.
