- What exactly is a bidet?
A popular feature in mainland Europe that is now seeing a rise in popularity across Ireland and the UK, a bidet is a plumbing fixture that is installed as a separate unit in the bathroom, often next to the toilet, shower and sink. Many bidets bear a striking resemblance to a basin in that they typically feature a rounded bowl with a narrow base and larger top.
- How does a bidet work?
You would be forgiven for being confused as to what a basin actually is some point; an unfamiliar object outside much of mainland Europe, perhaps you’ve mistaken it for a small sink, bath, or worse yet, a toilet. So how does a basin actually work? A bidet is not an alternative to the toilet, but rather, a supplement. Once you’ve finished on the toilet, simply pop yourself over the bidet and use the tap to control the floor of water to clean yourself up.
- What is the purpose of a bidet?
Many Europeans vow that they can’t live without one, and for good reason. Washing yourself with a bidet can be a great help with cleanliness and self-hygiene in between showering. It may also be argued that bidets are more environmentally friendly alternative to constant toilet-roll usage. The bidet uses only one-eighth of a gallon of water, whilst it takes around 37 gallons of water to make a single roll of toilet paper. Investing in a bidet would also work to save on the amount of money spent on toilet paper.
- How should I choose a bidet?
Although the function of a bidet is not on the glamorous side, this is not to say that a bidet cannot tie in with the overall style of your bathroom. We stock a range of bidets in different styles and colours so that you can find the perfect product to match your overall décor for a stylishly cohesive look. From bidets in a glossy white ceramic with pillar taps for a traditional look, or wall-hung bidet in a beautiful matt grey finish to provide a modern edge –you’ll be sure to find a bidet to suit your style and taste.
- Will my bidet last?
In terms of style, the popularity of bidets has survived from over 300 years, so it’s safe to say that they are unlikely to ever go out of style. In terms of quality, our bidets have been made from high quality materials in order to ensure an excellent level of durability so that you can enjoy its benefits for many years to come.
