Low Level & High Level Toilets
High-Level & Low-Level explained
Bring vintage elegance to your bathroom with a High-Level or Low-Level Toilet. With a High-Level toilet, the cistern is positioned high up on the wall behind the pan, with a charming pull chain flush. They are also distinguished by the long stainless steel pipe connecting the pan and the cistern. Our Low-Level models exude a similar aesthetic, but as the name implies, the cistern is located lower down on your bathroom wall with a lever instead of a pull chain flush. These are great for smaller bathrooms who want the classic beauty of a High-Level Toilet but don’t have the space.

- What is a high level toilet?
This is the ultimate feature for achieving a beautiful vintage-inspired look. It gets its name from how the cistern is positioned high up on the wall behind the pan, which is connected to the pan via a long stainless pipe. It is finished with an old-fashioned pull chain flush to complete the overall traditional style of the look.
- What is a low level toilet?
A low level toilet features a similar design to a high level toilet, except its overall height is much shorter. The cistern is much lower down and connected to the bowl with a shorter pipe, and it is often finished with a handle flush system. Although not as grand in size as its high-level counterpart, a low level toilet still features a design that epitomises the beautiful traditional style of period-inspired bathrooms.
- Why should I choose a high or low level toilet?
Although many toilets feature a design that will hide the pipework for a compact look, the exposed pie and dramatic elegance of both high and low level toilets, achieves a look of classical elegance that remains unmatched by other toilet designs. Toilet designs that borrow inspiration from times past continue in their popularity, and this type of toile is perfect if you’re after a vintage-inspired space, or if you want to honour the traditional style of your period property.
- Are these toilets ideal for bathrooms lacking in space?
The grand height of the high level toilet requires a rather spacious bathroom in order to avoid an over-bearing bathroom layout. If you’re working with a smaller bathroom but still want the beautiful elegance of a traditionally styled bathroom, a low-level toilet takes up less room and is much more likely to seamlessly fit into your smaller bathroom. If you are unsure whether or not a high or low level toilet will fit your space, reach out to a member of staff and they will be happy to assist.
- Are high and low level toilets practical?
Although this type of toilet is rather aesthetics-based in its core advantage being the beautifully elegant traditional style that it will add to your space, our range of high & low level toilets are still fully equipped to meet the demands of the modern-day home. Inspired by the past but still functioning under modern innovation, our high & low level toilets feature a high grade ceramic or vitreous china finish to make for a robust and easy-to-clean product. Many also feature a soft close toilet seat, which works to slow down the shutting of the seat to eliminate loud banging and wear caused by heavy shutting.
