Worthwhile Bathroom Improvements

When it comes to improving our homes many people think about adding new décor to the living room, or revamping their master bedroom but it’s not very often we really give our bathrooms the tender loving care they really deserve.  In today’s article I intend to give you some really worthwhile bathroom improvements that can make a difference to your homes valuation without damaging your bank balance.

When you think about bathroom improvements you need to think about how the changes you make are going to suit your entire family, not just yourself, whilst ensuring it is within your budget.  It’s all well and good buying gold taps, but can you really afford too?  Chances are they are not an essential and your money would be better of used elsewhere.

When it comes to the mood within your bathroom it needs to be an environment you can relax in somewhere seen as your own personal heaven.  Having the worry about how much financial woes you have down to this will not help, follow these helpful tips to ensure you create a gorgeous yet affordable bathroom.

Updating your bathroom

When you are updating the bathroom you do not completely have to replace or renovate everything within it, large items such as your bath may still be absolutely fine, but if you are looking to give your bathroom a new look without spending thousands of pounds think about updating the smaller accessories. Unless you have a truly dated bathroom design – such as the once ever present avocado green of the 80’s – you can improve the room without too much effort.

If you feel you do have to update your whole bathroom then I would definitely advise going for a timeless style such as the all-white tiled bathroom. This may be a fairly average design but you can add to the theme through accessories and you won’t have to worry about it being outdated anytime soon.  I would also advise taking a look at the budget range bathroom selections available in all home stores as they are often deals to be had on full suites – and they are usually in stock to take away.

Ensuite Bathrooms

When it comes to ensuite bathrooms one thing people say first is they don’t have enough room for it to feel luxurious – because of this one, accessory I would advise is the use of a mirror. When light reflects off a mirror it creates an illusion of which makes the room seem bigger than it actually is to the naked eye. The installation is of a mirror is a cheap yet effective tactic to improve a small room.

Mirrors are not only available in different sizes either but you can also get different shaped mirrors too, try to get a mirror that fits with the rest of the décor in your bathroom or ensuite. Matching to thinks like vases is a good idea when creating a mood or theme within.

Adding a shower to your ensuite can be a very satisfactory improvement yet a more expensive one, when selecting a shower you need to consider a very important factor whether or not you want a separate enclosed shower or you would prefer a specific shower or wet room.

Shower enclosures can come in three different styles depending on your desires and needs, these are frameless, three sided or framed. If you have a fairly modern designed ensuite then a frameless style may be most appropriate with them suiting a smoother lined bathroom however framed structures give more defined edges and are analogous with more traditionally designed bathrooms.

If you are looking for a three sided structure then you will probably be using a bigger en suite, I say this due to the fact that this design is usually for showers that will not be in a corner of the room.

Accessories to give your bathroom a theme

Accessories are a very affordable way of adding to your bathroom or ensuite and allow you to set a theme or mood within on a small budget. You can edit the décor by choosing matching handle towels with your rug or floor coverings, and adding a piece of art to a wall is a timeless option – all of these options can create any theme you want with enough imagination.

Colour is important when it comes to decorating a bathroom – as mentioned earlier it is often a safe bet to go for a neutral bath suite as they will last the test of time and trends – so then it is important to add a splash of colour to the room using accessories.  Picking a theme for your towels is a great idea, and then following this through with simple items such as bins and vases, can really bring life to a room whilst being easily changed in years to come.
